SEVIERVILLE, TN - THE DINER, a family-friendly, 50s-style restaurant located on Highway 66 in Sevierville is hosting a tribute to the music of Buddy Holly on February 3, 2012.

"Buddy Holly is alive and well in the form of Kenny James," says Howard Kingsbury, owner of THE DINER. "February 3 is the 53rd anniversary of that fateful day in 1959 when a plane crashed near Clear Lake, Iowa, killing the pilot, entertainers Buddy Holly, J.P. Richardson (The Big Bopper) and Ritchie Valens. We want to remember the music of Buddy Holly with a special meal and a performance by Kenny James (as Buddy Holly)."

Kenny James (a familiar face at The Memories Theatre in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee) learned to sing and play guitar from his father, who introdced him at an early age to performers such as Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Elvis, Carl Perkins and others.

Kingsbury said that the restaurant will serve a special meal from 6pm until 8:30pm and guests attending the event will receive a pair of glasses (like Buddy Holly used to wear) as a party favor. Tables must be reserved ahead of time by calling (865) 908-1904 weekdays between 8a.m. and 9p.m. Cost for the dinner is $37.50 or the alternative Steakburger Meal is $29.50 (includes taxes & tip). 

Seating begins at 6p.m. for this very special meal and event at THE DINER. Kenny James will provide his unique tribute to Buddy Holly entertainment from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., including performances of songs like "Peggy Sue", "That'll Be The Day", "Not Fade Away", "Everyday", "Oh Boy", and "Rave On."

The menu will include a choice of 10 oz Ribeye, prime rib, beef tips or grilled salmon specified at time of reservation, side salad, baked potato, two diner sides, bread choice, Suzy Q's pie choice, and unlimited beverage for the evening. The steakburger meal is a bacon cheeseburger, fries or side, pie choice, plus unlimited beverage for the evening.

Intimate booth seating is available on the south side of THE DINER, assigned seating by THE DINER staff, and all requests for tables are on first come, first served basis.
